Best…Korean Sensations

The art of making time for everything. I truly believe it’s an art, because not many master it, and I think I’m still a student of this art. So finally. Post #2. KOREAN. I must admit that up until a few years ago, I had never tried korean food. The bibimbap was completely foreign to me along with the definition of a Korean BBQ (I thank my trips to China for teaching me what that was).

So with my Wednesday Night Foodie crew, we decided to venture out to find some delish Korean food. Sadly, when we got to the first place on our list, a Korean BBQ spot. It was sadly closed and needed to find a 2nd solution because we were HUNGRY. So, after checking urbanspoon (amazing tool!), we found a nice little place on Sherbrooke in NDG called Hwang Kum. What a treat! I had tried a few other Korean places in the city, but this one stands out as the best. The restaurant doesn’t sit more than 50 people, but the food is outstanding. Our table was COVERED. We ordered the BBQ beef ribs (the best dish on the menu!), the pork ribs (which were OK), the bibimbap, and the piece de resistance, the seafood crepe which YOU MUST TAKE.

The service was great and I’m the type to always ask what is the “must-have” on the menu and boy, was he right on! We were probably the last people in that restaurant because we just couldn’t stop eating (and talking of course). For about $45 a person, you can get away with an appetizer (that you share), a main dish, some dumplings and sake. The great thing is that area in NDG is really cute and they have tons of other restaurants around, which I hope to be trying very soon!

Do not be fooled from the sign! The decor of the place is really cute and feels really cozy. (Picture taken from the CollegeHumor page)

Our massive table of food. Food kept coming and coming and coming.

So, this place is really worth the detour. Take the BBQ beef ribs with the seafood crepe. You will not be disappointed! It’s authentic. delicious and worth the discovery.

Enjoy!
